Theresa D'Abreu (1966-2018)
/Hendon & Mill Hill Hockey club are sorry to announce the death of our dear friend and much loved club captain Theresa who passed away yesterday after a year long battle against cancer. Please keep her and her family in your thoughts at this very difficult time.
T was the life and soul of our club and we're forever indebted to her for over 30 years of service to our sport, she held many roles within H&MH over this time frame, but most importantly she was a dear friend to everyone lucky enough to have crossed paths with her.
"T's powers of persuasion are legendary – she had this amazing ability to encourage people to get involved; it was essentially impossible to say ‘no’ to her. This is a reflection of both her total ‘likability’ and the respect that she engendered from everyone who knew her. Our club would simply not have survived without Theresa’s unique ability to persuade people to play and to spot potential in young/new players. Theresa had immense passion for hockey and was an impressive ambassador for our beloved game. She was a consummate ‘builder of relationships’, and is known and loved by players and officials throughout Middlesex. Not only was she is an outstanding centre back with a jab-tackle renowned throughout the county (and beyond), but she had an encyclopaedic knowledge of the game, from tactics to rules which made her an excellent coach and umpire – calm, clear and disarming."
Rest in Peace T, lots of love from your hockey family xxx
