Back to Hockey - Starts in July!

Did you used to play hockey at school, university or at a club? Or have you always fancied giving hockey a go?

Back to Hockey at Ashmole Academy is perfect for you!

We're running "Back to Hockey" sessions for 8 weeks from the 4th July and they are FREE to attend! The sessions are every Tuesday from 8pm at Ashmole Academy School, which is a 5-10 minutes walk from Southgate Tube station.

Back to Hockey sessions are fun, sociable and informal and aimed at people who either haven’t played hockey for a number of years or who are looking to play for the first time. Don’t worry if you’re nervous or don’t remember any rules, our Back to Hockey coaches will gentle guide you through this series of fun and friendly sessions. We promise it’s nothing like the schools days of muddy pitches and standing around waiting for a touch of the ball! According the scientists, a session of hockey burns 450 calories and is a great way to improve fitness. As well as the fitness aspects, playing hockey with us is a great way to make local friends, we're a sociable bunch!

If you enjoy the Back to Hockey sessions, we'd love for you to join us for the 2017/2018 season which starts in September.

It was lovely to see all our members and guests out of hockey kit and dressed to impress, as well as the awards ceremony we had speeches from each of the captains and enjoyed a lovely 2 course dinner as well as beer from Bohem Brewery, we then danced the night away until the lights came up at the end of the night (after a great rendition of  "You Raise me Up" by Westlife!).

Ladies 3s finish the season in 10th place

The Ladies 3s have now finished all their games for the 2016/7 season and finish up in 10th place in Division 3 of the Middlesex Hockey league. Although it's been a challenging season for the 3s to get a team of players out every week, the spirit of the team has been fantastic, making the 3rd XI a great place of hockey novices to quickly get up to speed with the game.

Well done, Ladies! And a big thank you to Monica for captaining the team, you've done a great job!

Our 3's after their win against Ashford Ladies 3's. Well done, ladies! #latergram

Ladies 1st XI Top Division 1 of the Middlesex League

All games in Middlesex Division One have now been played and Hendon and Mill Hill Ladies finished at the top and will hopefully now be promoted back to the premier division for the 2017/2018 season. With a total of 114 goals scored across the season, Hendon and Mill Hill Ladies 1s look to be the top goal scorers across every division in the league, well done Ladies!

Ladies 2nd XI (hopefully) safe from relegation

A heroic effort from the Ladies 2nd XI means they are likely to be safe from relegation from Divison 2 of the Middlesex Women's Hockey League.

Although it is currently unconfirmed how many teams will be promoted or relegated from each division, sitting in 3rd from the bottom is typically a safe position in order to avoid relegation.

2 wins and a draw in their final 3 games, including a final draw with the team just sitting above them in the final nail-biting match means that the Ladies 2nd XI are now safe on goal difference.

Well done to everyone involved!
